I will:
Promote accountability at all levels
Promote financial stability, so that the Colleges are effectively positioned for longevity
Utilize data in budget planning to ensure public funds are allocated responsibly with a focus on serving students and promoting student learning
Promote quality education by enhancing facilities, promoting professional development for faculty, increasing student support services, build stronger partnerships with community groups, high schools, and universities
Promote robust student, faculty, and classified professional voices through effective participatory governance
Build a culture of respect at the board level that demonstrates its value of students, faculty, staff, and the community
Promote strategies that re-engage learning in a post-Covid environment
I have :
led the PCCD Board as President for two years
led the PCCD Board as Vice President for one year
led PCCD through its removal from ACCJC Probation
served on DEI committees at the state level
Taught in the CCC and CSU systems for twenty years and bring a deep understanding of issues that exist in providing educational opportunities for all students
Served on several accreditation team visits and understand the role of governing boards
Served as Commissioner on the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC)
Advocated vigorously for the Arts and for Civic and Global Citizenship at the local and state levels
Served on Statewide Academic Senate (ASCCC) committees and understand the complex triangular relationship between state mandates, system initiatives and local implementation
Actively served as VP of my local Academic Senate and understand participatory governance processes, budget, and enrollment management issues
